  • MURAL

    MURAL

This collaboration mural was displayed in front of the Art department building at San Diego State University. My partner Karen and I had a quick deadline and were able to complete this in 20 hours. I painted the man texting and the majority of the sky. Karen helped with the sky and painted the ocean. I came up with the concept of this Mural after I started noticing that most of the students walk around campus, staring at the their phone. One day especially, I was walking back to the parking structure and was amazed at the beautiful San Diego sunset. It was shades of violet, blue, pink, yellow, and red, but when I looked around most of the students didn't even seem to know what was in front of them because of how consumed they were with their phones. This mural is an ongoing project done by students of Carlos Castro at SDSU. When other paintings have been displayed, some students don't even notice they are walking by the art because they are too busy texting or on social media. I really wanted to make a clear message to students, that they are missing out on God's beauty that surrounds them.

  • "Press Play"

    "Press Play"

FOR SALE I built this canvas myself from scratch for my final painting assignment in College. The theme was "play" and I had to use this emotion to develop a painting that reflected that theme. It was very experimental, I had never worked like this before. I had lots of fun creating the background. I had trouble using india ink to create the organ pipes behind the piano but I persevered and worked at it all night. This painting now sits next to my mother's piano, and it is her favorite piece.

  • "Eyes Are the Window's to the Soul"

"Eyes Are the Window's to the Soul"

FOR SALE Oil painting portrait. The idea was to have her eyes closed, and use the eye as the background and head coming out of the pupil. I think eyes are so beautiful and detailed, sometimes when they are painted so small, it's hard to appreciate the colors and designs inside the iris. This was a painting assignment, I was challenged because I could not use a picture reference. I work better when I have photos to look at.
